We are currently seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer. The candidate will be responsible for the design and development of high-performance rugged embedded computer systems used in cutting edge applications on land, sea and in the air. These systems consist of integrated high-performance computers, graphics processors and network switch components often with custom power and thermal solutions.

As a System Engineer, you will work on new product development along with existing product support as part of the High-Performance Computing and Systems Team. You will work closely with experts in the field of rugged computer systems and be engaged in a collaborative and hands-on environment that fosters engineering excellence, creativity, and innovation.

Role Responsibilities:

• Work as part of a team to design, develop and deliver complex, high performance, rugged computer systems to our customers
• Focus on system design, including analysis of system requirements, architecture design, mechanical and electrical design, design verification testing and environmental qualification
• Develop robust systems solutions in short-cycle design environments, leveraging existing technologies, promoting standardization, reliability, and process efficiency
• Oversee debug and troubleshooting efforts to determine the cause of test failures
• Lead qualification and design verification testing of systems; Overseeing planning, procedures, and execution of functional, EMI/ESD, and environmental tests, such as shock, vibration, thermal cycling, per MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704 and DO-160
• Drive system designs to production readiness and manage hand-over to the production team

Skills & Competencies:

• Background of rugged system design and development
• Experience with modern computer system architectures (CPUs, GPUs and network switches, IO)
• Strong understanding of electrical circuit components and operation
• Strong understanding of mechanical design and thermodynamics
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems
• Experience using hardware test and diagnosis tools; oscilloscopes, multi-meters, function generators, etc.
• Experience using and testing interfaces such as Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553, RS232/RS422/RS485, video and audio is highly desirable
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to learn new development practices, languages, and tools
• Ability to work in both small and global teams and be highly self-motivated

Role Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years of applicable experience
• Ability and willingness to travel
