Job Summary

Our Tailors are the thread that brings our business together. They can showcase their craft and expand their knowledge through additional training and growth opportunities. This position requires a detailed eye to ensure all quality standards are met or exceeded. While the primary focus of this role will be in Tailoring, we will also cross train you to float between roles based on where the business need is.

This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by Tailors at Hemster. Is not intended to include all duties, responsibilities, and qualifications. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.

Duties / Responsibilities:

• Keep a safe work environment by maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
• Ability to navigate the Hemster online portal.
• Ensure Hemster’s standard for efficiency, accuracy and quality are always met for all Tailoring related activities.
• Uses sewing skills to alter and complete any garment orders received from the Prepping Station
• Completes any Tailor fails before the end of each workday.

Requirements:

• Professional Garment construction knowledge
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.
• Self-motivated and team-oriented
• Experience with troubleshooting and threading an industrial sewing machine.
• Ability to apply finishes to garments on both an industrial machine and by hand, such as a French seam, buttonholes, reattaching buttons, or snaps, attach labels, etc.
• Ability to perform the following stitches on an industrial sewing machine:
• Chainstitch Hems
• Straight Stitch Hems
• Coverstitch hems
• Purl stitch hems
• Overlock+Blind hems
• Reattach Original Hem
• French seam
• Flat felled seam
• Bound seam

Physical Requirements:

While performing this job a tailor is regularly required to stand, sit, reach, and kneel. Physical ability to lift and move 50lbs. Specific vision abilities such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:

This is a Part-Time, non-exempt position. This position is eligible for overtime. Work hours are typically 20-29 hours a week, Monday thru Friday with availability to work on weekends.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
