Erath wines are an expression of the land that the winery has cultivated for over 40 years. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and goal-oriented individual to continue the tradition of this legacy wine brand in our Urban Tasting Room, located in the heart of Portland’s Historic Pearl District. Our team is essential in creating favorable impressions through interactions with our guests. This role requires a strong desire to develop and share knowledge of fine wines and winemaking. Weekend availability is also required.

THE ROLE

  • Cares deeply about the customer experience and understands how to combine service with sales skills to achieve goals.
  • Provides a positive brand experience by welcoming all guests in a professional and cheerful manner.
  • High level of curiosity and a desire to develop and share knowledge of fine wines and the winemaking process.
  • Poised, energetic, and enthusiastic team player, with a healthy dose of good humor.
  • Presence of mind, an eye for details, and the ability to tailor compelling communication to a varied audience.

THE CANDIDATE

  • Prior sales and service experience in a hospitality environment are strongly preferred.
  • Schedule flexibility needed for weekend, holiday and occasional evening shifts.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods and lift, carry and rotate 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • High school diploma or equivalent minimum requirement; associate’s degree preferred.
  • Applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age, be able to obtain a valid OLCC card, and must be able to work Saturday and Sunday, in addition to some weekday shifts.

Three established wine brands comprise the Ste. Michelle Wine Estates (SMWE) Oregon division: A to Z Wineworks, REX HILL, and Erath. Established for 20, 40 and over 50 years respectively, the three wineries independently earned reputations for creating classic Oregon wines of quality and value. Each brand continues to grow with ownership transition to SMWE, while maintaining focus on offering distinctive, accessible wines.
