Teen Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Coordinator Job at Boys & Girls Club of Elgin

You will gain valuable hands-on experience for the fields of Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Social Work, and Education by working alongside experienced staff to support our growing national movement. Responsibilities:
- Engage with select groups of teens (middle and high school) youth members on a weekly basis
- Create and implement activities about setting boundaries, forming healthy relationships, substance abuse & gang prevention, kindness, mental health, and more
- Utilize techniques to gain control of program group and ensure members are fully engaged
- Communicate clear and simple instructions to members before each program and activity to ensure that members understand rules, expectations, and directions
- Provide positive feedback, encouragement, and recognition for members to highlight achievements
- Track and report attendance, behavior support plans, trauma-informed action plans
- Visit up to two (2) school locations per day during the week (with gas stipend)
- Review needs of students with program staff and refer families to services as needed
- Complete SEL-related trainings as needed
- Meet regularly with supervisor: Director of Social Emotional Learning
- Support regular on-site staff as needed
- Become 12-passenger van certified to provide member transportation when needed
- Maintain efficient and professional communication with community partners, stakeholders, Boys & Girls Club staff, parents, and members
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $18 per hour

Experience:
- At least 1 year of youth development or youth mentoring experience
Education:
- High School diploma required
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degrees in the fields of Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, and Education are preferred
