Textron Systems is seeking an experienced Cable Design Engineer to join our team. This individual will work as part of a multidisciplined design engineering team during the development phases of current and emerging programs. The individual will be responsible for developing new cable designs and work cross functionally to support qualification of the designs as military qualified hardware. The individual will also lead liaison efforts between manufacturing and engineering during production of prototype designs. The individual should have a working knowledge of mil-spec connectors, backshells, accessories, and wiring. The individual should be proficient in cable shielding techniques, shield termination techniques, cable construction, and design documentation development. Our Design Engineering team is focused on developing and improving new product designs to support currently funded and advanced emerging programs for military customers.


Qualifications - External

  • 5+ Years of Relevant Experience
  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering
  • Knowledge in cable design techniques for:
    • Low EMI susceptibility
    • Radiation hardening
    • High Voltage
    • Impedance Control
    • Ruggedization
    • Testing
  • Knowledge of mil-spec connectors, backshells, and wires.
  • Knowledge of low EMI susceptibly and radiation hardened cable design techniques.
  • Knowledge of shield termination techniques
  • Knowledge of Allegro CIS Capture experience a plus
  • Experience developing system wiring diagrams and assigning reference designators
  • Knowledge of Siemens PLM Capital and Harness XC software a plus
  • Knowledge of cable sheathing material and components
  • Knowledge of the following specifications:
    • MIL-DTL-38999
    • MIL-DTL-24308
    • NEMA WC 27500
    • SAE AS85049
    • SAE AS22759
    • ASME Y14.44
