Diversity Counseling, LLC, (referred to as “Company” or “DCLLC”) is a privately funded, for-profit company providing outpatient substance abuse services and mental health services (Counseling) to adults in Cranston, Rhode Island. The Company was founded by its owner, José G. Cruz Rodríguez, Ph.D., LMHC, LPC, LCDCS, who saw a need to address substance use and mental health challenges in Rhode Island. Determined to make a difference, the owner established his own company to treat individuals and families seeking assistance with Mental Health and Substance Abuse Disorders. The Company seeks to expand counseling clinical services in Rhode Island.

Job Responsibilities (Counseling)
- Conducting the initial screening to determine appropriateness to the level of care offered by the agency.
- Conduct the initial evaluation and thus formulate the main diagnosis.
- Using the results of the diagnosis and initial evaluation, exercise the assignment of patients to the most appropriate mental health provider.
- Providing individual and group Counseling therapy for adolescents, adults, and families specializing in treating mental health, depressive, substance abuse, and anxiety disorders by focusing on the well-being of each patient and their current environments.
- Helping clients with difficulties and life transitions challenges related to work, emotional, and relationship disruptions through in-person, group or Counseling and therapy sessions including those for school and community-based clinical work.
- Conducting direct assessments and behavioral health services while utilizing Counseling psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and groups with a variety of psychological and personal challenges utilizing various theories or modalities.
- Collaborating with other professionals or agencies in the community as a treatment team to maintain continuity of work.
- Assisting patients in understanding and addressing their inner conflicts including counseling clients with mental health substance abuse challenges as well as leading group counseling sessions that provide support for stress or chemical dependency.
- Arranging for medical, psychiatric, and other tests that may disclose causes of difficulties and indicate remedial measures, referring patients to alternative physical or mental health services for specialized support or diagnoses.
- Evaluating patients by engaging them in conversation to determine their mental and emotional health and their specific challenges that need to be addressed as well as collecting supplemental information from clients to assist assessments.
- Handling patients' records in a confidential manner, ensuring that they are kept updated, scheduling appointments, providing reminders to patients, collecting payments when needed, and ensuring that appropriate follow-up is performed.
- Maintaining an up-to-date electronic-based schedule, completing all assessment paperwork, and maintaining clinical progress notes within 24 hours as well as reaching out to clients to assist in maintaining caseloads.
- Handling all client correspondence including court letters, requesting toxicology screens if needed, and maintaining ongoing communication with involved community providers including attending provider meetings.
- Developing person-centered aftercare plans that are measurable and reflective of the client's progress and development.

Pay: $40.00 - $55.00 per hour
