The Total Absence Management (TAM) Consultant is responsible for managing medical accommodation cases for UnitedHealth Group (UHG) employees. The TAM Consultant will provide day to day support to employees, managers, and HCPs on a variety of employee relations, absence management and accommodation issues. This role will be responsible to manage a large case volume, meet all service level agreements (SLAs) and follow appropriate documented procedures in the case management system to ensure legal compliance. Apply independent judgment to individual cases and ensure compliance with state, federal and local laws to include FMLA, FLSA, the ADA and ADAAA.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Manages cases related to the interactive ADA process for both stay at work and return to work accommodations
- Collaborate with disability vendors on the cases, to effectively manage return to work for employees returning from a leave of absence, who have medical restrictions and/or accommodation needs
- Consult and coordinate with managers and departments to implement job modifications/accommodations; evaluate the need for assistive equipment or modifications to the work environment, and ensure reasonable accommodations are effectively implemented at the worksite
- Manage cases related to Leaves, Disability, Employee Relations, Payroll, and employee complaints, etc.
- Partner with Employee Relations and Total Absence Management team to achieve effective and consistent case management
- Ensure required forms and documentation are complete, accurate and within deadlines and the case management tool is documented correctly
- Participates in and supports Total Absence Management initiatives and special projects
- Follow appropriate escalation guidelines, escalate One Breaths, and ensure notification to appropriate levels within the organization is timely
- Performs other duties and as required

Required Qualifications:
- BS or BA degree
- 3+ years of experience in one or all of the following: leave, disability, accommodations, vocational Rehabilitation or occupational therapy
- Knowledge of ADA, FMLA, FLSA guidelines and other federal and state related disability and leave laws
- Solid knowledge of MS Office suite, i.e., Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination, and boosters when applicable, prior to employment to ensure compliance. Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, or New York City Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 to $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada/New York City residents is $72,800 to $129,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
