Job Description

MSA Security, an Allied Universal® Company, is hiring a Training Coordinator. The Training Coordinator will focus on operations, daily training, and on-site activities that meet or exceed the requirements in the contract with the U. S. Government and who is capable of executing the duties at the Global Canine Services Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the planning, implementing, coordinating, documenting, and overseeing all canine training including initial imprinting, odor recognition, operational exercises, testing and validation to meet U.S. Government standards and contractual requirements
  • Create and publish training schedules and provide guidance to staff regarding individual work schedules, program of instruction, allocation of resources (training areas, classrooms, equipment, supplies, etc.)
  • Provide classroom instruction and assign, mentor and evaluate course instructors
  • Design and develop training programs for assigned instructors, canine trainers, and Canine Handler students
  • Review and assess feedback (including student end of course critiques, external audits, employee recommendations, etc.) to recommend, design and implement approved changes to courses, methods, and facilities
  • Prepare the training areas and assists with logistical requirements to accomplish the daily evaluation regimen
  • Provide guidance and training to assist Explosive Detection Canine Teams increase their performance and capabilities
  • Ensure Explosive Detection Teams/Center attendees are participating and adhering to canine training facility regulations
  • Develop training scenarios for both domestic and overseas Explosive Detection Canine Teams

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be a US Citizen (pursuant to government clearance requirements)
  • Possess, or be able to obtain a United States Passport
  • Possess a valid US Driveras License, if driving a company- or customer-owned vehicle
  • Possess, or be able to obtain, a minimum of a Secret level security clearance
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a supervisor in a working canine field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience, within the past (10) ten years, in the ability to recognize canine diseases, be familiar with canine hygiene requirements, and monitoring the physical condition of their assignments
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience, within the past (10) ten years, maintaining canine training and operational records and similarly related documentation
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience, within the past (10) ten years, conducting searches of bags, personnel, equipment, buildings, assigned facilities, vehicles, aircraft, and other items as directed, utilizing canine assets
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience, within the past (10) ten years, conducting inspections of all equipment to ensure it is functional and report deficiencies as needed
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience, within the past (10) ten years, teaching, instructing, developing curriculum, administering instruction, and coordinating instructional courses specifically related to all aspects of the canine industry
  • Knowledge and/or experience providing proper care for a working canine
  • Ability to take on responsibility of caring for a Canine on a full-time basis
  • Ability to evaluate, repair, and advise on canine training and validation, housing/kenneling, overall well-being, and operational inefficiencies

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Service in Military Occupational Specialty related to law enforcement, security (such as Military Police, Elite Military Forces, combat arms) or any support role in a Combat Zone
  • Completion of a full military handler course
  • Bacheloras degree in law enforcement or criminal justice related studies
  • A minimum of 8 or more years of service in any military branch
