Title: Transit Dispatcher

Schedule: Monday through Friday 3:30am-12:30pm

Compensation: $22.50/hour
Eligible for $2,000 new hire incentive

What qualities we are looking for:

  • Previous dispatching experience in public transportation services isn’t required, but is preferred
  • The ability to think clearly and problem solve under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Familiarity with King County streets and traffic conditions
  • Desire to provide superb customer service
  • Top-notch computer skills


**Due to Federal Regulations, this position is considered a Safety Sensitive Position, therefore employees are required to undergo a full criminal background check and pre-employment Federal DOT drug screening, and are subject to random screenings, which include THC among other restricted substances.

You will partner with:

  • DART Dispatch Supervisor
  • Transit Driver Supervisors
  • Hopelink Transit Drivers
  • General Public

An example of what you will be doing:

  • Provide superior customer service to bus operators and passengers.
  • Ensure drivers check in on time for the correct work and vehicle assignment.
  • Maintain radio contact with drivers and field supervisors.
  • Record trip information using automated dispatch system.
  • Ensure pick-ups, drop-offs and ride time occur in a timely, safe, and efficient manner and communicate changes to the driver and to the customer.
  • Set up subscription route schedules and maintain standing ride databases. Add requests and adjust schedules to accommodate trip request changes.
  • Process and schedule ride requests using scheduling software.
  • Troubleshoot scheduling and staffing issues.
  • Ensure the timely production of passenger manifests and answer driver requests for additional information or assistance.
  • Prepare reports using Excel and Access.
  • Communicate with appropriate law enforcement, medical services, and supervisors in emergencies.
