Transportation Aide Job at AristaCare Norwood Terrace
Transport aides move patients around hospitals or residents of a nursing home around the facility. In this career, you may also drive patients to off-facility appointments. Your major duties are to move the patient from one place to another in a smooth and efficient manner. You may simply help a patient walk, but you more often push a patient in a wheelchair or move patients on stretchers or hospital beds. You may also have a number of administrative responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative Functions
- Examine the daily rehabilitation timetable and make yourself available as needed.
- Assist nursing and rehabilitation professionals with vehicle transfers.
- Assist residents in transferring to and from wheelchairs as little as possible.
- Residents are transported to and from the rehabilitation center for scheduled visits.
- Any occurrences or difficulties should be reported to nursing and rehabilitation professionals.
- Maintain a professional and friendly relationship with residents and employees.
- As needed, operate elevators.
Education
Must possess, as a minimum, a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Experience
- Experience in long-term care is desired.
- Certification as an HHA is necessary.
- Must have prior experience utilizing facility equipment to carry and transfer residents or patients with physical disabilities.
