Position Summary:

User Experience Designer is responsible for creating or improving the accessibility and usability of user experiences in public facing web-based applications. This role requires a strong balance of understanding the end user as well as knowledge of digital design best practices. From conducting user research to prototyping and usability testing, this role requires problem solving skills and a deep knowledge of the design process.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Conducts research to identify user needs including focus groups, surveys, interviewing, use patterns in system, and secondary research to identify best practices.
  • Elicits, documents, analyzes, and confirms user requirements
  • Provides recommendations for user workflows through existing systems and designs for future system updates.
  • Collaborating with technical experts, subject matter experts, and analyst to identify and document design for optimal user use of systems.
  • Collaborate with technical experts, subject matter experts, and analysts to create proof of concept, proof of design, and prototypes to design new systems and solicit, document, and analyze user feedback on each stage.
  • Other duties as assigned

Certification/Skills:

UX Design Certificate Preferred

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree

Minimum Experience:

Two (2) years’ experience in User Experience Design

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.


Security Sensitive:

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
