Vice President of Accounting

Minnco Credit Union is seeking a candidate with strong accounting and management experience. The candidate will be responsible to implement the practices and activities of the accounting department to ensure the soundness and accuracy of all transactions. The candidate will be responsible to ensure all activities are in compliance with State and Federal rules and regulations, and (GAAP) Generally Accepted Accounting Practices.

Job Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the financial, accounting, and bookkeeping functions of the credit union to include AP, AR, GL, investments, financial assessment, financial reporting and recordkeeping, and taxes.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures for the accounting department. Ensure that policies and procedures reflect current regulations and the accounting procedures are in strict compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Responsible for financial reporting, financial analyses, cash management, and forecasting reports on monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to senior management and the Board of Directors.
• Prepare and review credit union projections and manage credit union investment accounting activities.
• Assist with budget preparation and responsible for periodic examination of budget variance.
• Hold periodic staff meetings. Identify areas for improvement, changes in procedures, new developments, or changes in services. Keep staff up to date on trends and general credit union information.
• Serve as the credit union’s liaison with regulator agency examiners and auditors.
• Assist the CFO with projects, duties, exams, audits, filings and other duties as assigned or asked.

Qualifications:

• Four-year college degree in accounting desired, but not required.
• A minimum of five years accounting experience and financial institution, preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with all levels of credit union personnel and members.
• Must have very strong math, MS Excel, verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.

Preference may be given to candidates with experience with Prologue and Fiserv DNA.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
