Warming House Attendant Job at City of Richfield
A Warming House Attendant’s primary responsibilities include supervising the warming house and skating areas ensuring people of all ages have a fun and safe skating experience. Some light shoveling may be necessary to open the warming house after it snows. This position is perfect for someone who is social, can communicate well, and has a passion for winter sports and community involvement.
Under general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor; provides responsible supervision of winter warming house programs and activities.
HOURS
This is a seasonal position and is therefore temporary in nature. Position ends at the end of the season.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Opens warming house according to assigned work schedule.- Cleans snow and ice from doors and entry ways when opening and before closing daily.
- Communicates and develops positive rapport with warming house and rink users.
- Supervises skaters in warming house and on skating rink and maintains order.
- Deals effectively with complaints and relays pertinent information to Supervisor regarding program best practices or issues that need to be addressed.
- Performs light maintenance duties as needed or assigned, including, but not limited to, cleaning park warming house, tidying up restrooms and picking up litter.
- Inspects park facilities and grounds for potential maintenance or safety issues; addresses the problem and/or informs Supervisor of concerns.
- Prepares necessary attendance, accident and building damage reports.
- Attends trainings and staff meetings as required.
- Participates in efforts to ensure Richfield is an equitable, inclusive and respectful organization and supports the City’s mission, vision and core values.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Demonstrates ability to work with the public in a friendly, tactful and effective manner and answer general questions.
- Demonstrates ability to work with others, accept suggestions, and take direction.
- Demonstrates ability to enforce facility rules and regulations.
- Demonstrates ability to use good judgment and recognize unsafe conditions and practices outside and within the facility.
- Demonstrates ability to maintain neat and organized records.
- Demonstrates ability to arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
- Demonstrates ability to understand and respect the diversity of customers and co-workers, effectively communicating with individuals whose first language may be one other than English.
- Must be 15 years of age or older.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Customer service experience in a recreation setting or related work area, preferably working in group situations
- Ice skating experience
- Fluency in Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese or other non-English language prevalent in the City of Richfield
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The physical demands that are described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Must have the ability to:
Maintain physical condition necessary for moderate physical activity such as standing, walking, kneeling, sitting, crouching, twisting, bending, and lifting materials and supplies ranging from 20-50 lbs.
HIRING INCENTIVE
New/ rehire seasonal workers will receive a $100 incentive after first pay period. And $100 completion incentive at the end of the season.
