Position Summary The Welder will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment. Primary Duties and Responsibilities • Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job. • Set up fixtures and fabricates various items using various cutting, burning equipment, and setting correct weld machine parameters prior to welding. • Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are produced to meet specific drawing. • Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded per drawing requirements. • Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area. • Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered. • Performs other related duties as assigned. Education, Experience, and Skills: • Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, and blueprints. • Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms. • Ability to read a tape measure & basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments. • Must be able to pass HSP Weld Test with full understanding of shielding gases, positions, joint configurations, wire feed rates and establishing proper welding parameters Welder II/Welder III/ Fabrication Welder II level candidates should possess a proficiency with all previously mentioned skills including: • 3+ years of experience • Must be able to read engineered blueprint drawings • Must be familiar with varying welding methods/techniques using Flux or Metal Cord Wire • Fabrication background preferred Physical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary duties and responsibilities of this job.
