Lake Geneva Ziplines & Adventures (LGZA) is a premier provider of outdoor recreation and adventure education experiences. Located a short distance from downtown Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, LGZA serves a wide mix of customers through its offerings of ziplining, high ropes course, team building, mountain biking/hiking trails, climbing tower, event space rentals and special events.

Situated near a highly visible and well-known vacation destination that also serves a large number of conference/retreat guests, LGZA is well situated to serve the populations of Northeastern Illinois and Southeastern Wisconsin.

Job Summary:

A Wilderness Skills Facilitator is responsible for leading thematic educational programs for field trip groups. The Facilitator will ensure guests have an enjoyable, safe and memorable experience while adhering to company policies and procedures.
They will be responsible for instructing groups on topics including fire construction, shelter building, map and compass navigation, and survival skills.

Key Responsibilities:

● Engage in all required staff training prior to the summer season
● Oversee the physical and emotional well being of participants during program hours
● Implement environmental education activities and crafts
● Maintain a clean and organized work environment
● Work as a team with program staff and other LGZA staff
● Instruct in a range of outdoor activities, including map and compass, fire building, shelter building and survival skills
● Communicate with participants, families and groups in a professional manner
● Plan ahead and prepare for work in an outdoor environment
● Provide excellent customer service and answer any questions guests may have
● Respond appropriately in case of an emergency or unexpected situation
● Keep accurate records of guests and program information

Qualifications:

● High school diploma or equivalent
● Prior experience in an education or customer service-oriented role
● Familiarity with Wisconsin’s environment, flora and fauna
● Experience with outdoor activities, such as camping, preferred
● Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills, time management, organizational and planning skills
● Ability to maintain professional appearance at all times; represent the company in a positive way
● Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
● Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
● CPR and First Aid certification preferred

Salary:

The position is hourly starting at $16.00 per hour. Increases are given when returning for another season. Shifts are on a by-program basis.

Full time seasonal work is available for individuals who cross train in additional areas with LGZA such as the Climbing Tower.

Working Conditions:

Facilitators work primarily outdoors, in varying weather conditions. They may be required to lift heavy equipment. The position may require working on weekends and holidays.

Employees may not arrive on duty under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Because this position is a safety sensitive position, employees will be subject to random alcohol and drug testing if it is suspected that an employee is at work under the influence of alcohol or drugs (including misuse of prescription medications).
