Winter Seasonal Line Cook
HOURS PER WEEK: Averages 40.
Wages: $17 per hour.
Dates Available:
- December 2022 start dates with work ending in mid-April 2023.
CONSIDERATIONS: Will be required to work extended hours during peak times, weekends and holidays as necessary. Position may work out of various Lodge outlets and rotate through different shifts. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and able to take directions from a diverse team of leaders and co-workers.
POSITION SUMMARY: Prepares and cooks food for the various Lodge outlets in accordance with proper preparation methods, established procedures, sanitary regulations and recipe standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepares and cook food in accordance with standard recipe and presentations established by Executive Chef and Sous Chef, including grilling, sautéing, baking, poaching, roasting, deep frying, etc.
- Performs kitchen line and banquet functions as directed by the Kitchen Managers.
- Provides staff with high quality, healthy, and diverse daily dinner menu.
- Develops prep list for staff meals and oversees that all prep is completed.
- Keeps inventory of food needed for staff meals, informs Kitchen Managers of food needs.
- Maintains cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas and entire kitchen, including conducting a thorough clean at end of each shift.
- Assists with prepping food as directed.
- Assists with setting up tray lines, distributing food to various areas, and disassembling serving lines.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, local and company health, safety, sanitation standards.
- Has a valid Utah food handler's permit within 30 days of employment. Employee is responsible for buying the permit.
- Ensures assigned workstation has proper level of par stocks and supplies according to daily menus.
- Ensures freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality.
- Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Culinary degree or 1 year of culinary experience preferred.
- Experience in high volume production kitchen preferred.
- Ability to operate, clean and maintain most commercial kitchen equipment required.
- Knowledge of cooking techniques; knife skills required.
- Able to remain calm in fast pace work environment required.
- Strong attention to detail required.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. required.
- Able to read and interpret basic measurement units used in food production.
- Ability to present a professional appearance required: well groomed & trimmed hair, clean uniform, no facial piercings.
Perks:
- Ski time available several days a week.
- First year full time employees who want to ski pay two-hundred-dollar ski deposit. Returning full time employees don't pay a deposit.
- If a full-time employee doesn't want to ski then they will receive a one thousand-dollar payout at the successful completion of the season in lieu of the ski pass.
We have onsite housing available upon request. The rooms house two - three people. Second season employees who apply in time have first access to the two-person capacity bedrooms. Each room has its own bathroom.
Employees who choose to live on site will pay room & board is automatically deducted bi-weekly from a paycheck at a daily rate of $20 per person. which includes:
- Three meals per day.
- WIFI access.
- A ski bus pass.
Employees who don't live on site receive the following:
- Two meals per day worked.
- A ski bus pass.
Things to know:
- Goldminer's Daughter Lodge is only seventy-five feet away from the nearest ski lift which makes us the ideal ski in ski out lodge for both employees and guests.
- We have some of the best employee housing in Little Cottonwood Canyon.
- Our busiest time of year is Mid-February until April first.
- Bringing cars to Alta is not recommended because of limited parking and the restrictions to vehicles that don't have four-wheel drive and winter tires or chains.

- Dining room front of house employees will keep their tips.
- The ski buses travel between the Salt Lake Metro Area and Alta from Mid-December until the second weekend in April. Service is every half hour from seven am until six pm and there is a bus stop at Goldminer's Daughter Lodge.
- The bus ride to the Salt Lake County Light rail system from The GMD is about 45 minutes.
