Youth Program Coordinator Job at Lakeland Hills Ymca
Under the guidance of the Camp and Program Director, the Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall activities of the Association with regards to Youth Personal Training, Youth Special Events, Clinics, Enrichment Classes, Physical Education, Sports Leagues, and Special Needs programming, and Summer Camp for youth in accordance with the YMCA’s mission of body, mind, and spirit. Duties include program development, scheduling, evaluating, policy making, staffing, training, budgeting, expense control, equipment and program area maintenance.
Qualifications:
- Four-year college degree preferred.
- Two years of experience in related field.
- Two years of experience hiring and managing staff and volunteers.
- CPR/First Aid required within 90 days of employment.
- May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and squat, stoop, or bend into awkward positions while performing job functions.
- Lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Must be able to multi-task, manage and cultivate relationships, and have a high level of emotional maturity.
- Strong communication, written, verbal, presentation, and organizational skills required.
Essential Functions:
High Quality Programs, Services, and Facilities
- Administer operations of youth programs including interpretation and execution of established policies, the development of procedures and methods, staffing, evaluation, and effectiveness of programs.
- Develop, plan, and conduct a wide variety of on-trend, progressive skill-based programs and activities that maximize the facilities, support the cause, and enhance membership. Expect upwards of 40-50% of time facilitating programs.
- Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate code of conduct.
- Work with other full-time staff to delivery programs while children are on holiday and session breaks.
- Ensure the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities and equipment by keeping supplies organized, inspected, and maintained.
- Promote and monitor program growth, taking a leadership role in membership cultivation, and program retention.
- Lead grant and sponsor funded programs in alignment with Fund Development deliverables.
- Responsible to help, plan and execute summer camp programming, theme events and staff management.
Staff and Volunteer Management
- Recruit, hire, supervise and develop department staff and volunteers that create a culture of cause-driven leaders.
- Conduct staff meetings and training to keep staff well informed.
- Perform program evaluations of staff and participants to ensure quality, professional, and progressive sessions are being delivered.
- Review and approve payroll for department staff.
Finance
- Track all revenue and expenses for each program.
- Prepare session P&L reports.
- Work with Camp and Program Director to prepare annual budget to increase growth in programming and youth membership.
Community Engagement
- Work in cooperation with the Marketing department to promote classes, and special events as well as contribute to the website.
- Take pictures throughout the year of programs.
- Work in cooperation with the Lakeland Hills Family YMCA Administrative team on Association projects, special events and membership retention.
