2nd Shift Maintenance Technician

American Wood Fibers (AWF) is a manufacturer of both consumer and industrial products that are sold to multiple manufacturers as well as pet, agricultural, and home-heating markets. AWF is comprised of 450+ employees and holds operations at 11 locations, generating over $100M in annual sales revenue. We are currently seeking a candidate for the 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician role in our Laurinburg, NC facility.

JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician will conduct machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance service.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• MAINTENANCE
• Perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment and provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production
• Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs
• Performs mechanical work including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines
• Responsible for PM’s of all plant equipment
• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
• May work in other duties as assigned
• SAFETY AND ADMINISTRATION
• Comply with OSHA Safety and Health rules
• Responsible for safety, cleanliness, and organization of maintenance department
• Communicate with supervisor and other maintenance personnel
• Coordinate and administer company policies as they relate to the maintenance department
• Conduct test and report items regarding insurance qualifications to meet safety regulations and standards
• Attend and participate in monthly safety meetings
• Establish personal goals and work with fellow employees toward continuous improvement and teamwork
• QUALITY
• Maintain and verify that all current quality assurance measures are being followed and communicated to supervisors, production employees, truck drivers, office personnel, and customers
• Assists in the design and implementation of new procedures as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• In this position, the employee can expect to be exposed to extremes in temperatures as well as work environment
• The incumbent may be expected to lift, push, pull, and carry weights in excess of 60lbs
• Position requires the ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, and squat for extended periods.
• In a typical 8-hour shift, the employee can expect to spend about 50% of their time standing and walking to different areas in the plant, approximately 20% kneeling and the remainder of the time in various other positions, such as crouching and sitting
• The employee must have the ability to climb ladders, stairs, and scaffolds, as well as being comfortable working in confined spaces at various heights including the tallest structures in the facility, approximately 150’ high.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Highschool Diploma
• Technical training
• Welding experience
• Exposure to high-speed equipment
• 2+ years of related experience in packing/production lines

Due to the safety sensitivity in a wood-processing manufacturing environment, AWF is a 100% smoke and flame-free company

$19.50 per hour
