Material Handler
BASIC FUNCTION
The Material Handler position operates a forklift and/or overhead crane to properly load and unload material onto trucks.
Shift and Pay
3rd shift
$16.30hr
Location: Downtown Indy Area
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Responsible for operating forklift and overhead crane to load and unload material onto trucks
- Processes work orders from bills of lading
- Double check parts before shipping.
- Responsible for packaging cut products
- Collaborates with other handlers and supervisor
- Ensures correct products are being loaded and unloaded by matching order numbers to printed tags
- Performs preoperational safety checks on forklift and overhead crane
- Labels and packages finished products
- Follow safe job procedures including inspecting forklift, equipment and tools before operating
- Move materials to and from storage or production areas using a forklift
- Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or materials moving needs
- Complete necessary paperwork when needed
- Record information in a computer screen
- Band material and attach identifying tags
- Assist in good housekeeping practices-keep work area and walkway clean and free of debris
- Good team environment
- Supervisors and managers who will get in and help to get work done
- Accept minimum forklift experience, if willing to learn
- Guaranteed 40hours each week
