Choice Property Resources, Inc. is seeking a full-time Accounting Manager / Accounting Director to be responsible for running the accounting department for privately owned, well-established, business-to-business professional services firm in growth mode. This person will also be capable of supervising staff who process 10,000+ transactions per year through an escrow account, managing an associate responsible for HR and payroll, and overseeing the implementation of the company’s technology strategy through an IT manager. The ideal candidate will have accounting, bookkeeping and management skills. This position is replacing a retiring associate.

The Accounting Manager / Director position is ideal for the candidate who flourishes at running a department on schedule while maintaining an extremely high level of accuracy. A candidate who can show past results of identifying and implementing efficiencies in systems will stand out. This position impacts all areas of the business and supports the entire company.

Note: This is a fully - remote role and is open to individuals who reside in the Traverse City, Michigan area only. To work from home, you do need a dedicated workspace that is free from distractions and background noise with high-speed internet access. He or she should have the ability and willingness to travel up to 5% of the time and to meet in person once per week in TC.
Requirements
What You Will Do
- Financials:
- Preparing monthly P&L
- Manage balance sheet
- Overseeing A/R and A/P
- Monthly reconciliations of four bank accounts
- Monthly, Quarterly and Annual financial reports
- Track cash flow
- Budgeting:
- Preparing, reporting, and managing annual budgets
- Preparing and overseeing departmental budgets
- Forecasting:
- YTD Forecasts (1 & 11, 2 & 10, 3 & 9, etc.)
- Maintain 12-month rolling forecast of detailed revenue and expenses
- Accounts Payable: Oversee Escrow Payment System led primarily by Staff Accountant and Bookkeeper with >10,000 transactions per year
- Supervisory Duties: Manage three to four direct reports working in accounting, IT and payroll/HR
- Tax Related Items:
- Liaison with outside CPA for corporate tax returns
- Track and coordinate estimated tax payments for S-corp
- Confirm payroll related reporting in conjunction with CES and HR/Payroll associate
- Long-term objectives:
- Evaluation, recommendation, and implementation of accounting system improvements (increased efficiencies and accuracy through automation)

What You Need to Have
- Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Accountancy or related field
- Five or more years’ experience in accounting, bookkeeping or finance
- Experience supervising direct reports
- Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise or similar financial software
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations
- Superior data management and data analysis skills
- Proficiency using Microsoft Excel
- Experience across MS Office products and ability to learn new technology as needed
- Experience with Salesforce a plus
- Experience overseeing IT a plus
