Purpose of the Position
The purpose of this position is to expand and deepen our existing K.A.L.E. program into more schools and regional communities. This individual will work with our Farm Manager, and Director of Education to re-evaluate our existing program - how we recruit, how we fundraise, how we connect with schools, how we teach the curricula. Our hope is to expand the program to more regional schools and offer an in-school option for those schools that cannot physically come to our farm.
In addition to the growth of the K.A.L.E program, another purpose of this position is to examine and update our existing SEE curriculum and offerings. The AmeriCorps member will work with the Education Director to examine and update the SEE curriculum to align and/or highlight common core standards in both North Carolina and South Carolina.
Finally, this position will help with the upkeep and expansion of our existing trail system. This trail upkeep will help our trails remain accessible to community members from the Green River valley and our students in the K.A.L.E and SEE programs.
