Potential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assistance with the Head Designers in executing all aspects of product & design through tech pack development.
- Support in all technical design functions relating to achieving proper garment fit.
- Ability to have a technical understanding of body, ease, fit, fabric & trims.
- Responsible in the assistance of leading fittings with live models by taking detailed notes & communicating with clear fit comments & photos.
- Able to assemble tech packs with detailed sketches, illustrations & construction detailing through the usage of a PLM software system.
- Able to analyze garments to determine the appropriate compliance of comments, specs, construction & sketches to provide to factories.
- Knowledge in grading and the ability to understand grade rules against various styles & fabrications.
- Ability to understand sewing construction in a wide variety of fabrications (knit, woven, sweater, denim, etc.)
- Able to identify potential product & quality issues while able to make the appropriate recommendations with the design & production teams in advance.
- Ensuring all garments are high quality and conform to company standards and brand values.
- Ability to work closely with the design team to execute original vision by reviewing sketches to best determine project specifications.
- Determining garment supplies and establishing realistic timelines for production.
- Collaborate with vendors, the production team & factories to meet all calendar deadlines.
- Assistance in managing photo library of working samples.
- Assistance in updating data entry reports & documents via the PLM platform.
Requirements:
- A.A., A.S., bachelor’s degree(s) and/or related to Fashion Design, Merchandising, Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or anything equivalent.
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the fashion industry
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, CAD, and Adobe Illustrator - willingness to learn new software is also essential.
- Solid understanding & experience with patterns & the ability to modify patterns to achieve the fit intention.
- Intermediate PLM software training (Product Lifecycle Management)
- The ability to justify design changes.
- Expert knowledge in garment construction, sewing, grading, tolerance, fabric, yield, cutting, color & print.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations at 12th grade level.
- Ability to follow direction well but also able to work with little to no supervision.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Well-organized with a heavy sense of urgency.
- Positive attitude the willingness to learn.
- Ability to work under pressure with deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through of communication and execution of projects.
