The Stanford Medicine Technology and Digital Solutions team was formed to provide the Stanford Medicine community with the most innovative technology services as efficiently as possible. Led by Michael Pfeffer, CIO and Michael Halaas, Chief Operating Officer and Associate Dean in the School of Medicine, the unified organization brings together the best of the School of Medicine and Stanford Health Care IT to enable new opportunities for groundbreaking work and compassionate care. Together, the Technology and Digital Solutions team will work to break down historic organizational barriers to enable even greater collaboration across Stanford Medicine hospital and clinics, and the entire University.

A Brief Overview
The Assistant Manager is responsible for scheduling adequate staff and adjusting as needed to accommodate changing workloads and priorities. The Assistant Manager trains and evaluates staff, ensures their productivity and efficiency, and meets all regulatory compliance requirements. The Assistant Manager attends and facilitates meetings.

This position manages the lifecycle of assets from time of purchase to end-of-life or disposal of the assets. This includes planning, purchasing, tracking, monitoring, and recording software assets and hardware assets to ensure accurate physical and financial tracking and compliance with vendor contracts. This position works closely with Senior Leadership within the CTO organization and ITS.

Key responsibilities include the management of the core Infrastructure IT assets and processes, including management, and forecasting; communications; asset management; new technology introduction processes; change and outage management; and Infrastructure operational metrics.

What you will do

  • Adheres to the Biomedical Engineering Medical Equipment Management Plan.
  • Ensure 100% completion of Preventative Maintenance work orders is met every month.
  • Provide weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on work performance of responsible staff members.
  • Regularly meets with Director, Manager, leadership councils, and staff.
  • Reports problems and solutions to Biomedical Engineering leadership.
  • Responsible for complete and meaningful AIMS database documentation.
  • Responsible for Life-support and Critical equipment regulatory compliance issues.
  • Schedules and maintains proper staffing levels.
  • Ensures all medical equipment safety issues are properly handled.
  • Serves as a liaison between Manufacturer/Vendor and equipment users.
  • Trains and evaluates Biomedical Engineering staff.
  • Manage asset lifecycle across the various IT Infrastructure service areas (e.g., network, desktop engineering, field services, data center operations), including budget, processes, and schedule.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for tracking IT Infrastructure assets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Manage vendor relationships, performance, and contract renewals to reduce overall IT expenses.
  • Report and demonstrate the value of projects for IT Biomedical Engineering.
  • Manage all communications for the IT Biomedical Engineering’s organization in order to ensure a consistent message is sent for both internal and external communications.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with ITS department management, IT operations staff, and build process consistency within an infrastructure service area.
  • Manage IT Biomedical Engineering process improvement projects, including improvements to existing lifecycle management processes and training for IT Biomedical Engineering staff on the use of new and Enhanced technologies.
  • Participate and support Senior Leadership in the process for forecasting and ordering IT Biomedical Engineering hardware and software.
  • Maintain and monitor inventory levels to minimum and maximum levels.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to Biomedical Engineering Technicians and resources.
  • Provide strategic advice and management of daily with operations.
  • Provide risk and cost management assessments for the organization.
  • Provide input and support to Senior Leadership on defining, managing and implementing IT Biomedical Engineering Policies, metrics, and best practices.
  • Work with IT Services leaders as well as Clinical and Business leaders to help SHC meet its clinical and business needs.
  • Work with service owners and technology experts to guide continuous improvements (using Lean and other process improvement techniques).
  • Work effectively with clinical and non-clinical team members from all levels of the organization to achieve the stated objectives.
  • Define, monitor and report on asset, financial and contract service metrics.


Education Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university


Experience Qualifications

  • Five (5) year of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $57.42 - $76.09 per hour
