Job Summary As an Automotive Alignment & Tire Technician, you will be responsible for all aspects of alignment, suspension, tire mount/dismount and balancing, and related service for all automotive vehicles.

We pay by the flag hour; you are paid the number of hours set by the flag rate. A busy and skilled Alignment and Tire Tech can complete and be paid for more than eight hours in an eight-hour workday! Responsibilities

  • Performing pre-scans and battery health checks on vehicles and interpreting DTCs that need to be corrected by other technicians. (Training provided on this step.)
  • Performing pre-alignments on vehicles to identify needs
  • Communicating alignment, battery health, scan and suspension needs to a writer who will bill for these items
  • Performing complete vehicle alignment on vehicles
  • Photo documentation of wheels and tires, before pre-alignment to show condition, note any missing lug nuts, wheel caps, covers or hub damage, and visible tread wear issues before performing work. Photo document suspension issues, before and after repair for insurance carriers
  • Performing suspension service, axle work, wheel and tire service
  • Perform OEM procedure research, ensure following proper manufacturer procedures on suspension repairs to each vehicle
  • Balancing of wheel assemblies
  • Cleaning and maintaining alignment and tire equipment
  • Uploading before and after alignment specs into software
  • Changing, mounting, balancing and installing tires
  • Inspect and rotate tires
  • Test drive every vehicle after alignment and suspension work for road feel, noise, vibration, steering control, steering wheel returns to center, etc.

Desired Qualifications

  • 21+ years old
  • Valid driver’s license: no suspensions or at-fault accidents in last 5 years, clean record required
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience with suspension and alignment work
  • Must be able to work in a results-oriented, fast-paced environment as part of a team
  • Must be a self-starter and willing to take initiative, able and willing to work without direct supervision, keep work area clean and organized
  • Frequent lifting up to 35 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 75 pounds; frequent bending, twisting, kneeling and continuous squatting, reaching, walking and standing
  • Excel at diagnostics and drive-ability problems
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools: alignment rack, tire balancer, tire changers, battery tender etc.
  • Prefer Hunter Combo Fundamental Level I and Intermediate Alignment Level II course completion
