Pathways Strategic Teaching Center is a year round comprehensive education and treatment program, servicing children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other related disorders. Founded in 1988 through a collaborative effort between the J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center and local parents of children with autism, Pathways is committed to utilizing scientifically validated teaching methodologies in improving the lives of individuals with ASD and their families.

Pathways education and treatment strategies are based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. Individually tailored curricula address speech and language, pre-academic and academic skills, daily living and self-care skills, play and social skills, vocational skills, and assessment & treatment of challenging behavior.As a Behavior Specialist, you will be responsible for: Protecting the rights and dignities of individuals with developmental disabilities and extending these rights and dignities to family members or guardiansDeveloping individual student goals and objectives (curriculum)Participating in the development and implementation of individual student treatment/educational programs desired to treat undesired behaviorsDeveloping and maintaining appropriate behavior analytic measurement systems for individual student goals and objectives in both adaptive skill areas and problem behavior areasImplementing instructional strategies consistently and accurately across school and community settings as prescribed by the Program Director and/or Supervising Behavior AnalystImplementing relevant staff management support systems; Consulting with Director, designated behavior analyst and other therapists, as neededOrganizing structure of educational environments, and coordinating services in public school settings, including transitional/ inclusion servicesTraining classroom teachers, behavior technicians, and community-based treatment staff in implementation of behavior analytic teaching methodsAssisting in the training and orientation of new staff; providing co-workers with positive and constructive feedbackSustaining knowledge of current practices in applied behavior analysisCommunicating any medical, physical, or other changes in student status to the program Director, guardian, and the clinical teamDeveloping and managing research projects as designated by the DirectorUtilizing appropriate communication systems, including logs and direct communication to staff and supervisorsImplementing behavioral measurement systems, collect accurate data across all aspects within the program. For example, but not limited to: toileting, discrete trial instruction, behavior, natural environment, maintaining client records, etc.Performing other duties and job assignments as required by the DirectorEducation/ Requirements: Bachelors degree is required, preferably in related field (i.e., psychology or special education)A minimum of two years of experience working with students diagnosed with autism or similar diagnosis utilizing applied behavior analytic teaching methodsCertification as a BCaBA is preferredEnrollment in applied behavior analytic graduate coursework is highly preferredExperience developing individual student curriculum preferred as well as experience in training others to implement behavior analytic teaching practices and behavioral/educational measurement proceduresSkills in effective communication with parents and community-based stakeholders is essentialExperience with behavior analytic research projects, dissemination of research/applied work (publications/presentations), and grant writing strongly consideredMust successfully pass BCI and CANTs screeningsMust have a valid drivers license, safe driving record, and automobile insuranceMust have access to personal vehicle to be used as directed and when needed for transportOur mission is to promote an enhanced quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities.
