Utah Community Action in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking to hire a Cafe Lead Hourly to work at multiple cafes. This position is approximately 36 hours per week, 8:00 AM-2:30 PM.

Our Cafe Lead Hourly earns a competitive wage of $17.59/hour. Position Summary

The Cafe Lead Hourly, under the direction of the Nutrition Coordinator, supports the operations of the Senior Center Café and oversees the Café Food Service Workers. Also, daily meal preparation, production of meal specials, and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards. Direct and indirect supervision of Sauté students working at the cafe, and central kitchen volunteers, including but not limited to culinary interns. Compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local food safety and sanitation laws, including those related to storage, preparation, and service of food.

Professional Experience & Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Current food handler's permit.
  • 2-3 years of culinary experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to find suitable solutions to daily workplace challenges through problem-solving.
  • Ability to respond to feedback and adequately handle customer complaints.
  • Ability to direct staff with clear, concise, and practical instructions and communication.
  • Ability to receive and verify all deliveries and refuse unsatisfactory products or services.
  • Solid understanding of food safety, regulations, sanitation, and food preparation techniques.
  • Comfortable working with members of the public, able to initiate conversations, and provide a sincere welcome and enjoy providing excellent service.
  • Knowledge of health department standards.
  • Ability to manage and rotate stock.
  • Ability to handle cash register and payments.
  • Ability to learn, take instruction, and work under own initiative, supporting other team members, and able to multitask.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Robust conflict management and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of health and nutrition services in the community
