Utah Community Action in Salt Lake City, UT is seeking to hire a Seasonal Food Service Worker.

Our Food Service Worker earns a competitive wage of $16.89/hour. This is for a seasonal position. The schedule is Monday through Friday 3:00 PM-6:30 PM or Monday through Friday 10:00 AM-6:30 PM The position will last from the end of May to the beginning of August.

Position Summary

The Food Service Worker will help support our summer meal program.

Duties include prepping items needed, traveling to site, setting up pop up tents, tables, portable hand washing sinks, items needed for service. Serving food to patrons, cleaning up site, returning to central kitchen to wash dishes and unload trucks.


Professional Experience & Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Current food handler's permit.
  • 2-3 years of culinary experience preferred.
  • Physical demands include bending, standing, kneeling, swooping, must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Solid understanding of food safety, regulations, sanitation, and food preparation techniques.
  • Comfortable working with members of the public, able to initiate conversations, and provide a sincere welcome and enjoy providing excellent service.
  • Knowledge of health department standards.
  • Ability to manage and rotate stock.
  • Ability to handle cash register and payments.
  • Ability to learn, take instruction, and work under own initiative, supporting other team members, and able to multitask.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Robust conflict management and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of health and nutrition services in the community.
