Description

The Medical Assistant is the first point of contact for the patient care; coordinates the timely flow of patient encounters by helping prepare the patient, room, record, equipment, and supplies base on the patient's complaint and their status in the anticipation of the provider need. The MA performances therapeutic procedures as appropriate; administers medications, responds to emergency or urgent requests for medical care, assists in any other activities as necessary.

Responsibilities

• The Medical Assistant performs clinical duties such as discussing symptoms, gathering and inputting information into the electronic medical records system, taking vital signs, giving injections, performing diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, cleaning equipment and maintaining examination rooms neat.
• Collaborates closely with Physician and NP and delivery patient care.
• Works within defined parameters to identify work expectations and quality standards, but has some latitude over prioritization/timing and works under minimal directions , follows standard policies/practices .
• Assist with the timely flow of patients encounters by preparing the patient and exam rooms, collection the appropriate equipment or supplies as requested and checking the medical record for completeness.
• Assist with patient encounters, special procedures. Performs therapeutic procedures as ordered. Verified patient understanding of procedures and assures appropriate written consent has been obtained prior to procedure .
• Administer medications as ordered.
• Document all nursing activities, results, and patient related communications as appropriate.
• Respond to all requests for emergency and urgent medical care according to approved guidelines.
• Works effectively as a member of a patient care team and contributes suggestions for improving the practice and organization operations.
• Any other duty assigned.
• CCM
• In charge of the Flu vaccine during the season
• Order the medical supplies every quarter
• Authorizations.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to hear, to speak clearly, to operate a phone, to see, to operate computer to operate special equipment, i.e., O2 tank , EKG and spirometry equipment, Holter monitor.

Education/Experience Required

High School diploma.

Professional experience as a Medical Assistant.

Basic computer knowledge

CPR certification

Must be a team player with excellent communications skills.

Willingness to learn and be cross trained in other roles base on business need.

Experience with Electronic Medical records; eClinicalWorks A +

Bilingual English/Spanish
