The Certified Peer Specialist (Peer Specialist) will provide behavioral health services that foster supportive peer relationships with clients in the various community support programs. The Peer Specialist by definition is a person in recovery who will utilize her or his personal recovery experience to instill a sense of hope and optimism for persons in recovery. Applicants must have completed the DHS State approved training and be certified as a Peer Specialist.

DUTIES:

  • To work effectively within the Community Support Program and other Programs providing Peer Support to the clients of Hopefield Mental Health Foundation Inc.

· The CPRS is an integral member of the team and assists in the development of a culture of recovery and peer support by engaging in and supporting person centered services.

· Have knowledge of, and be able to teach skills related to coping, relapse prevention, and basic household and living skills.

· Assessing needs and applying interventions appropriately.

· Be able to complete functional assessments and treatment plans, daily progress notes, and all other required paperwork.

· The CPRS must be able to maintain appropriate boundaries in a variety of settings and situations, be able to establish a trusting relationship with peers, and have excellent interpersonal skills, and maintain an excellent working relationship with colleagues.

· The CPRSS must be detailed oriented with good writing and organizational abilities. Must be able to network within the community and work with diverse populations.

Others includes but not limited to:

· Assisting in the development of strengths-based individual goals

· Serving as an advocate, mentor, or facilitator for resolution of issues that a peer is unable to resolve on his or her own

· Assisting in the development of recovery goals

· Developing community support

· Providing information on ways to maintain personal wellness and recovery

· Providing information on behavioral health system navigation

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).

- Must be Certified by TDMHSAS as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist by completing the State of Tennessee Certified Peer Specialist Training.

· The applicant has identified self as a person who has direct personal experience living with a mental illness and/or chemical dependency.

  • · Must have valid driver's license, reliable transportation, current proof of vehicle registration and ability to pass DMV/Criminal background check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $33,000.00 per year
