This position will support The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music new Interdepartmental Degree Program (IDP) in Music Industry. The Music Industry IDP, which oversees the existing Music Industry Minor, a new Music Industry Major, and a projected research center, will be formally launched in academic year 2022-23. The Music Industry IDP, which oversees the existing Music Industry Minor, a new Music Industry Major, and a projected research center, will be formally launched in academic year 2022-23. Staffed by a combination of dedicated ladder faculty and working music industry professionals, this dynamic new program focuses on conceptual and executive functions of the entertainment industry music law and business, artist management, entrepreneurship, marketing, and music supervision while providing creative instruction in audio technology, musicianship, songwriting, and production. Committed to critical and socially responsible innovation in the industry, UCLA's Music Industry Program is both highly selective and growing fast. On track to become the largest undergraduate degree program in the School, the Music Industry IDP needs exceptionally innovative organizational staff to grow with us.

Under general supervision of the IDP Chair and Manager of Music Industry IDP, the incumbent will provide high level administrative support for the Chair and Core Faculty, program areas and research center. Major duties include manage course scheduling and catalog updates, comprehensive calendaring of chair's activities and departmental events, interface with students, faculty, artists, senior university officials, and music industry executives, scheduling and agendas of official meetings of the Core Faculty and Affiliated Faculty, assist with the development and implementation of long-range planning, and serve as Department liaison for general inquiries. The incumbent will manage logistics and process necessary reimbursements and payments for several events throughout the year, including but not limited to conferences, capstone events, masterclasses, summer intensives, guest artists, and residencies. Logistics include but are not limited to booking travel, entertainment details, getting necessary bids, working directly with vendors and participants, etc. They will help support student-run professional activities, including but not limited to record labels, performing groups, entrepreneurial activities, and venue management. They will also assist in the composition and editing of reports, and manage the distribution of electronic communications to students and faculty. Additional duties include: create, update, and maintain a standard operating procedures manual and faculty onboarding training materials, provide support for faculty recruitment and advancement, and, maintain and update departmental website and other public-facing media. They will also assist with special projects as needed.
