As a key member of Liberty’s Enterprise Data Practice and the GRS Operations leadership team, the Chief Data Officer will be integral in creating and implementing successful data strategies in close partnership with technology and business leaders.
The Chief Data Officer will possess a strong knowledge and expertise of data strategy, stewardship, management, reporting and governance. Responsibilities:
Strategy and Planning:
In partnership with Technology, directs the development of the GRS data and information strategy and vision to support business priorities and goals that enable analytics and reporting needs across the SBU
Partner with technology teams to define a target architecture to enable the data strategy across the business user community
Lead data capability maturity assessments and craft / communicate strategic roadmaps to support data ingestion, management, and governance for all GRS stakeholders
Represent GRS in the Liberty Enterprise Data Practice and share progress and ideas with peers across the organization
As a part of the GRS Operations leadership team, influence priorities, vision and direction across GRS to consider data as a critical part of their decision making
Execution:
Responsible for execution and oversight of the data strategy needed to support business needs, capability and strategic roadmaps, GRS data governance/stewardship, ownership for data delivery and reporting solutions.
Oversees activities to set governance policies, process, and procedures to build out data and business technology
Steers overall GRS data stewardship and governance, balancing data access and use with the need to protect these strategic data assets, meeting regulatory and legal requirements
Leads teams that ensure data requirements are defined, communicated and well understood by impacted upstream and downstream teams across GRS segments
Manages the overall Data Office budget associated with business GRS data strategy and assets; ensuring programs are delivered within budget and ongoing BAU expense optimization; working closely with IT partner budgets for engineering delivery
Develop and control data governance policies for managing data privacy security, implement measures to promote them, respond when incidents occur, and oversee regulatory compliance with data privacy regulations
Talent Management:
Hire, motivate, mentor, supervise, and develop talent, including data stewards, and business data analysts to enhance data capabilities in support of GRS / segments
Proactively champions the value of data as a strategic business asset and drive a culture of innovation with business leaders, industry, and customers using data insights
Oversee cross-functional teams and stakeholder groups to ensure that data strategy, assets, policies support organizational priorities and meet market requirements
Capability Development:
Build organizational capability to read, understand and communicate with data and drive a culture enabled by data
Support Technology in the creation and scaling of a data model that integrates and organizes disparate data systems and allows for scaling, speed and a global view of data
Partner with IT on the optimal data infrastructure by understanding all the different types of data needed (e.g., internal, external, quantitative, or unstructured)
Drive teams that lead the development of solutions in the areas for data, Enterprise reporting, shared solutions, and business applications
Lead the development of standards, best practices, and tools for reporting
Stay up to date with new data technologies while identifying new external trends and data innovations.
