Code Inspector I Job at City of Kenner, Louisiana
ANNOUNCED FILL ONE VACANT POSITION.
Under general supervision, performs inspections of properties for compliance with zoning and related codes and ordinances. Work involves responding to complaints from the Mayor's Office, Council member offices, Director's office, Occupational License Office, and the general public; writing violations of junk vehicles, high grass, weeds, and litter on private property; completing an information sheet for the City Attorney's office for the court; checking vacant houses for open windows and doors and boards when necessary; checking on blighted homes and abandoned homes; writing court summons, issuing warning violations, and testifying in City and Parish court. Reports to the Code Inspector II.
Minimum Qualifications: Requires high school or vocational school diploma or equivalency certificate plus nine to twelve months of experience in inspection responsibilities, enforcing codes/laws or policies and/or conducting investigations. This position will work a flexible schedule that will include evening and weekend hours. Must possess a valid Louisiana State Driver’s License.
