Commerce Editorial Fellowship (New York, NY)
InsideHook is looking for talented young writers and editors to join our rapidly growing team. Our paid fellowship program is based in New York City and gives aspiring digital media professionals the chance to work in our newsroom alongside our full-time editorial staff in all phases of the editorial process. The fellowship will be 3 months long and will be based on a hybrid schedule out of our Midtown NYC office. The fellowship may be extended based on performance and the fellow’s availability.
This role will report to the Executive Editor and will work cross functionally with all the departments at InsideHook - Commerce in particular!
Overview

This is an opportunity to work directly with our editors and executive team. The role will be fluid and fast-paced, ranging from production, research, photo-editing and analytics work, to writing and reporting pieces and contributing to our long-term strategy. The ideal candidate is eager to learn and do and has particular interest in the commerce and production side of editorial work.
Responsibilities:

Fulfill various production needs for the commerce team, including QA and link creation

Pitch and write commerce stories

Collaborate with our editorial team and freelancers to produce, copy edit and fact check editorial content

Edit, cut and upload photos to our CMS

Contribute to editorial planning and strategy process and manage the commerce editorial calendar

Use our various affiliate networks and analytics platforms to identify new opportunities and insights for the team
Qualifications:

Applicants must have experience writing and reporting, preferably for a digital or print publication with an emphasis on lifestyle (travel, food and drink, style and grooming, health and fitness, pop culture, etc.)

Working knowledge of CMS tools (Wordpress or similar), Google Suite and Photoshop

Enthusiasm, reliability and a team-oriented attitude

Quick learner and self-starter comfortable with rapid change

Ability to stay organized, balance priorities and work well under pressure
Preferred:

Knowledge and experience with different linking systems (e.g. Trackonomics)

Experience with HTML, photography, the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign)

Ability to commute to the NYC office 2-3x a week
NYC Pay Range - $15 per hour
