Position Overview:
The Automation/Controls Engineer will have exposure to real-time control systems and manufacturing applications. They will be responsible for designing, implementing, and programming manufacturing execution systems, reporting systems, as well as real-time control/SCADA applications.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Evaluating and specifying performance criteria and installation requirements for process instrumentation
  • Evaluating and specifying performance criteria and installation and configuration requirements for process controllers and communication equipment including PLCs and HMIs, network switches and firewall appliances, media converters, and data radios
  • Evaluating, inspecting, testing, and specifying performance criteria, bill of material, methods of construction, and installation of control panels
  • Experience in Allen-Bradley products and software, writing programs using Ladder Logic, and maintaining schematics/programs for future repairs and/or additions. Experience creating new systems and starting up new projects to meet the design intent of garage door manufacturing processes.
  • Draw and review control schematics, able to interpret shop edits, and implement a final draft.
  • Assist installation and troubleshooting of control systems.
  • Support the manufacture, build, and validation of systems which include pneumatics, hydraulics, servos, variable frequency drives, relays, communication networks, touchscreens, pushbuttons, robotics, and other such integration.
  • Troubleshooting instrumentation and control system performance issues
  • Preparing written operations and maintenance manuals for instrumentation and control systems
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering or related discipline or, Associate degree, preferably in electrical or automation, 5+ years of experience with electrical maintenance or installation

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) experience or SCADA experience, Wonderware/Archestra preferred.
  • Database, PLC, HMI, and SCADA experience.
  • Experience in Allen-Bradley products and software, writing programs using Ladder Logic, and maintaining schematics/programs for future repairs and/or additions. Experience creating new systems and starting up new projects.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional client interfacing skills.
