NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Salary Range
$88,600 - $146,200
- Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

Your responsibilities will include research, design, and development of cyber solutions that span multiple requirements such as cyber security guidelines, continuous monitoring, risk management framework and mitigation for enterprise-wide systems and networks. You will ensure system security needs are established and maintained for operations development, security requirements definition, security risk assessment, systems analysis, systems design, security test and evaluation, certification and accreditation, systems hardening, and vulnerability testing. Recommend sound, practical long term cyber solutions to complex issues. Integrates cyber security controls/components into existing or new infrastructures, designs cyber security architectural artifacts, and provides architectural analysis of cyber security features.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Design technical solutions to support Cyber posture
- Document risk assessments, generate vulnerability analysis reports and other supporting cyber security artifacts
- Interact with staff and management across Modern Systems organizations to understand needs and requirements and to coordinate the delivery of cyber security solutions
- Assist the cyber security technical staff in day-to-day information security operations
- Assist in the generation of new and the reaccreditation of existing cyber security plans
- Work closely with our Information System Security Officers (ISSOs) and system administrators to provide interpretation of NIST requirements and guidelines along with validation testing
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work on site.
Qualifications We Require
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (defined as four years plus an Associate’s or eight years after a High School Diploma)
Other Required Qualifications:
- Experience with Information Architecture and Cyber compliance such as DIACAP/RMF and STIGS
- Multidiscipline information technology experience and experience implementing Cyber solutions with at least one the following:
- Linux
- Windows
- Splunk
- VMware
- Networking
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance
Qualifications We Desire
- Five (5) years of experience with Linux and VMware
- Two (2) years of experience with Ansible, Python, networking, and Git
- Previous experience with satellite ground stations systems

Security Clearance
Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
