Job Description:
The Data Analyst will create and maintain data resulting from health research projects. This position is responsible for overseeing research project data analysis processes, (including collecting, securely storing, and organizing data) assisting with developing and implementing data management policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, ensuring consistency and integrity of data, designing and creating databases and participating in data quality testing and reporting. This position will also provide assistance and training to data users, analyze and interpret data from various sources using standard statistical analysis software prepare reports, charts, and tables summarizing data and analyses, assist with manuscript preparation, and provide support to the field data collection teams.
Working in the area of mental health and cognitive aging, Dr. Rich Jones’ group has a specific focus on the epidemiology of cognitive aging including delirium and dementia, and in particular the role of cognitive reserve, and environmental influences on cognitive function. Cognitive reserve is a hypothesis proposing that personal experiences and characteristics (e.g., educational attainment) provide a buffer against the clinical effects of underlying disease. The Jones group is conducting descriptive epidemiology and measurement-related research in delirium and dementia, and probing a possible causal role for educational attainment and other markers of brain reserve.
This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 5/31/2025, which may be extended based upon available funding.
Job Qualifications:
Education and Experience

Required: Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or social science-related field, and 1-2 years of experience in a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred: Experience in behavioral research with human subjects, preferably related to mental health

Preferred: Experience with basic data management techniques (data entry, verification, creating statistical data sets), and with the statistical packages Stata or R.
