Position: Elementary Dean of Students – Wacousta Elementary

Description:

Salary position, reporting directly to the Building Principal supporting supervision of teacher assistants, working with students, staff, parents and community support personnel for each day of the school year, approximately 184 work days.

Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Sociology, Education, Psychology or other Human Services area preferred.

Skills: Ability to listen, interact and build positive relationships and work cooperatively with staff, students, parents and other agencies toward resolving the non-academic problems that keep students from reaching the fullest benefits of the school setting. Good communication, organization, coordination and computer skills while possessing the physical ability to work in a school environment including out-door recesses.

Responsibilities:

• Supervises and monitors student activities such as lunch, recess, assemblies and other school day programs.
• Provides for due process in accordance with federal, state and school district policies always ensuring
• Monitors student attendance and academic progress and takes appropriate action as necessary. (Principal signs all truancy notices.)
• Assists principal with student behavior management.
• Assists with the development of character education, safe school, positive behavior (PBIS) and discipline plans as they relate to school strategies and procedures.
• Consults with staff and parents of students about specific behaviors of students. (MTSS) (Attends Parent teacher conferences outside the normal work hours only as necessary.)
• Assumes data entry to ensure accurate and consistent reporting of student discipline (PowerSchool and )
• Provides training, direction and supervision of teaching assistants. Consult with principals regarding TA evaluations and principals sign all evaluations.
• Continue Crisis Prevention Intervention certification (CPI.)
• Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of these job responsibilities.

Salary: $37,049.00 Step 1 (Dependent on Experience)
