POSITION SUMMARY: The Deli Clerk will work within the Deli by providing our valued customers with fresh cut deli meats, cheese, salads, soups, hot deli offerings and more. All duties will be performed in a manner that will help achieve the Medford Cooperative’s mission and goals.
Principal Duties
- Serve customers throughout the store while modeling a service-oriented culture and providing “best in class” customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging, and thanking every guest for their business.
- Follow the production schedule to determine quantity and variety of goods to make based on the Deli Manager’s recommendations.
- Properly prepare, package and price deli products to sell to our customers.
- Ensure that the deli case is always full and fresh with the best quality products.
- Use all equipment in the deli including refrigerators, slicers, ovens, stoves, mixers, etc. Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures.
- Walk department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and overall clean appearance at all times.
- Assist as requested to create attractive department displays based on specific sales for the week.
- Provide consistent, timely and friendly customer service when answering questions, making recommendations and promoting products through suggestive selling.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
- HS Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Food Safety Certification required within 90 days of employment
Skills and Abilities Required:
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. as required
- Friendly, courteous, service-oriented attitude
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to accommodate a fluctuating schedule, including weekend and holiday shifts
