Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week Monday – Friday with up to two evenings a week required; flexible hybrid schedule options available
Compensation: $23.00 - $25.00/hour DOE

Summary:
The Digital Skills Instructor supports adult students with developing beginner computer skills, digital problem-solving and critical thinking skills, network literacy, media literacy, and information literacy. They also support students with building awareness of digital security and online safety and with navigating and accessing resources such as affordable internet.
This position will conduct workshops, teach classes, and offer one-on-one support to adult learners who are looking for work, preparing for college and job training programs, seeking to connect to community resources, and seeking financial stability. Many of the students are experiencing poverty, and many are refugees and immigrants who are English language learners. A strengths-based, trauma-informed approach and commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and anti-racism are essential for success in this role.
This NEW position is part of Hopelink’ Adult Education team. The Digital Skills Instructor will start by designing and conducting workshops and supporting students in existing Adult Education programs as well as clients participating in other Hopelink programs. In the future, this position will offer quarter-long classes.
This position is expected to travel to different Hopelink locations to support students and meet with team members and volunteers as needed. Work from home is available when on-site activities are not required.
This position also performs duties to support the overall Adult Education program, such as conducting outreach, assisting students with completing program intake forms, delivering program orientations, conducting CASAS testing, entering attendance and student information in a database, and coordinating volunteers who support students.
Essential Functions:
(Note: Any one position may not include all the functions nor do the listed functions include all tasks that may be found in positions of this class.)
· Teaches digital literacy classes and workshops and supports students one-on-one.
· Utilizes provided curriculum and selects and develops additional learning materials and guides for online and in-person instruction modes with adaptations for a variety of levels and learning needs.
· Collaborates with the Adult Education team to continuously improve programs.
· Aligns instruction to Teaching Skills That Matter (TSTM) best practices in digital literacy.
· Supports students with learning how to use the Canvas Learning Management system.
· Checks out materials from the Hopelink library such as Chromebooks/laptops to students and ensures that students know how to use the materials and tech equipment.
· Uses interpretation and translation services to support students.
· Helps students access affordable Internet and other technology resources.
· Provides students with effective and timely feedback.
· Delivers new student orientations and completes intake paperwork with students.
· Supports the Adult Education team with CASAS pre-testing and post-testing remotely and in person.
· Coordinates volunteers who support students and coaches volunteers to apply principles of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and a trauma-informed approach.
· Collaborates with colleagues to support students in reaching their education and employment goals and to connect students to support services such as financial coaching, employment, case management, food, and energy assistance.
· Collects and enters student data into database and reviews data for accuracy; tracks client progression and program outcomes and uses data for program improvement.
· Stays informed on regional and national digital equity efforts, digital literacy best practices, digital safety and security trends, other technology trends, community resources, job training and apprenticeship programs, and college programs and disseminates information to colleagues, volunteers, and students.
· Promotes Adult Education programs within Hopelink and in the community by participating in outreach events, distributing flyers, and building and maintaining relationships with staff and community partners.
· Responds to inquiries about Adult Education programs via phone and email.

Required Qualifications:
· 2+ years’ experience teaching adults; experience supporting adults with learning digital literacy skills
· Ability to assess learners’ needs and create accessible learning materials that are relevant, engaging, and effective
· Ability to identify and address learners' challenges in acquiring digital literacy skills, diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, and adapt instruction accordingly
· Strong understanding of digital tools and technologies, including computer hardware and software, mobile devices, social media platforms, and online communication tools; familiarity with different learning management systems and educational software
· High level of patience with strong problem-solving skills
· Committed to racial equity and to applying principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of work
· Committed to using a trauma-informed approach in providing service to students and collaborating with colleagues
· Experience working with low-income populations and immigrants and refugees
· Excellent cross-cultural communication skills and commitment to practicing cultural humility
· Excellent English communication skills both written and oral
· Ability to accurately enter and manage client data in a database
· Able to work at least two evenings per week
Desired Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Computer Science, or related field of study
· Experience conducting digital literacy workshops and classes
· Experience with accessible design
· Knowledge of Northstar Digital Literacy
· Experience with the Canvas Learning Management system
· Bilingual or multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply

Licenses, Certificates and Other Requirements:
· Valid driver's license.
· Reliable personal transportation.
· Proof of personal automobile liability insurance.
· Must pass a background check.
· Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their Hopelink worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. There will be situations where the employee is required to report to a Hopelink worksite.
