PURPOSE OF POSITION: Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by compiling information, preparing profit and loss statements, and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures. Communicate fiscal information and reporting to all levels of RCMA staff and work closely with other departments to obtain information necessary for financial statement preparation and analysis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following; however, other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepares, inputs, and reconciles journal entries and accruals including payroll, cash receipts and other fiscal transactions to general ledger.
  • Reconcile detailed reports and prepare reimbursement requests from various funding sources.
  • Prepares profit and loss statements and monthly closing and cost accounting reports, including subsidiary ledgers and audit schedules.
  • Reviews the classification and distribution of income and expenditures to proper accounts.
  • Reviews and analyzes general ledger for accuracy and prepares adjusting entries in accordance with RCMA’s cost allocation plan and funding source requirements.
  • Maintain and coordinate established accounting and internal control procedures.
  • Analyze and review budgets and expenditures for various funding sources.
  • Prepare and review budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain financial data bases, computer software systems and manual filing systems.
  • Assist Director of Accounting with audit preparation and review.
  • Examines and analyzes and verifies fiscal documents such as vouchers, warrants, purchase orders, receiving records, and invoices.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and computerized data.
  • Assists Director of Facilities with coordination of building & playground improvements.
  • Performing other related duties as needed.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant work experience

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections. Ability to read and interpret documents involving financial information, policy, and procedure manual.
