Director of Education Job at NYC Careers
The Queens Borough President is seeking to hire a Director of Education. We are looking for a focused, experienced, and knowledgeable professional to join our team. The director will be primarily responsible for ensuring smooth functioning of all educational initiatives and activities concerning the Queens Borough President's Office and the wider community.
The candidate should demonstrate a strong understanding of the New York City public education system and of State and City government. Furthermore, the candidate should be familiar with the over 400 public schools, Community Education Councils, City University of New York (CUNY) colleges within the borough of Queens. The candidate must also be able to research and identify properties that will be suitable for new school construction to help underserved communities and reduce overcrowding
Additional responsibilities: The Director of Education will be responsible for organizing and coordinating the agency's high school fairs and parental advisory board meetings. The director will be responsible for maintaining a close working relationship with the Borough President's PEP appointee, other members the NYC/Queens educational community, fellow QBPO staff members and other key stakeholders. The director will be responsible for other assigned duties not outlined above.
This position will require on occasional early morning, night and weekend work.

Minimum Qual Requirements
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of full-time satisfactory experience in community work, public administration or planning or
related fields, or public information or relations, of which one year must have been
in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or
2. An associate degree from an accredited community college and four years of fulltime satisfactory experience in community work, public administration or planning
or related fields, or public information or relations, of which one year must have
been in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of fulltime satisfactory experience in community work, public administration or planning
or related fields, or public information or relations, of which one year must have
been in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or
4. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1", "2" or "3" above.
