Frankfort First United Methodist Church is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic individual to lead our Youth Ministries. The successful candidate will be responsible for the continued development and implementation of programs and initiatives that support and foster the mental, emotional, and spiritual growth of youth in our congregation and community. The ideal candidate will also have a strong desire to support existing volunteers and the ability to identify, equip, encourage, and empower members of our congregation to serve as volunteer leaders in this important ministry area. Hours: 15-20 hours per week

Salary: $20,000 annually

Duties and Responsibilities

This is a contracted position which carries no benefits or severance package. The role of this position is to provide expertise as a youth leader.

• He/she will be present and visible in the worshiping community of FUMC on Sunday mornings, with the expectation that some time will be allocated for both the traditional and contemporary worship services.

• He/she is expected to facilitate and lead a regular youth program for FUMC.

• He/she shall lead the program by providing events, services, classes, meeting, and various other activities including but not limited to the following:

• Occasional Youth field trips that may be recreational, educational, and/or service oriented.
• At least one (1) weekly youth meeting, worship service, or Christian curricular program, which shall serve to nurture all youth members of FUMC and any visiting or partnering youth in attendance in their Christian development by providing an evangelistic mission of FUMC.
• Attract new youth members and their families.
• He/she is expected to provide fellowship events and programing.
• He/she is expected to utilize age-appropriate theological classes and discussions in which the youth of the program will have an opportunity to grow in their knowledge of the Scripture, its doctrines, beliefs, principles, and traditions of the United Methodist Church.
• Other activities and duties as determined by the Church and/or parish leaders.

• Recruit and coordinate adult volunteers for the youth program, ensuring compliance with Safe Sanctuaries child protection policies.

• He/she is expected serve on a team of church staff working collaboratively and attend weekly staff meetings.

• Submission for and passing (and maintaining) background check and fingerprint screenings.

The following qualifications are ideal for the Director of Youth Ministries:

• A committed follower of Jesus with a willingness to grow in faith and knowledge to enhance themselves personally and professionally.
• An understanding of and appreciation for United Methodist/Wesleyan theology.
• An inclusive spirit aligned with FUMC’s welcoming ministry that recognizes the worth of all persons.
• A high school diploma and an undergraduate degree in ministry and/or education related fields.
