Farmingdale State College seeks to hire a full-time Director in the college's Research Aligned Mentorship Program (RAM). The RAM program at Farmingdale State College is an extremely prestigious program originally founded by a US Department of Education initiative to support historically minoritized, low- income and first-generation students to embolden them with a passion for research and applied learning as a means to keep them on track through their college careers. The RAM Program currently has over 800 RAM student scholars benefiting from additional advisement, coursework, and special workshops and events. RAM student scholars are paired with a faculty mentor or off-campus supervisor to engage in hands-on research, internship, or project-based learning experience.
The RAM Director will define the vision for the Program, oversee and work closely with the members of the RAM staff in carrying out that vision, and will collaborate with administrators, faculty, staff, and offices across the College to serve the RAM Scholars. Duties include:
- Manage and direct all aspects of the program, including program vision, hiring staff, proposing and overseeing budgetary funds.
- Oversee and supervise the RAM Staff, including performance evaluations, and coordinate program activities and initiatives.
- Serve as departmental representative to Administrative Council and meetings.
- Oversee all RAM courses, and teach several as necessary.
- Help students apply for competitive off-campus research options.
- Oversee efforts to match RAM students with research placements on and off campus.
- Oversee all aspects of special scholarship initiatives such as Newman Civic Fellowship, Sillcox Scholars, and Dream.US.
- Oversee IGNITE Symposium on Undergraduate Research and Applied Learning.
- Oversee Summer Undergraduate Research Initiative (SURI).
- Set policy and processes on counseling students on academics, careers, and graduate school.
- Attract FSC faculty interested in serving as mentors for students in research and foster ongoing relationships.
- Building relationships with external entities that can assist in facilitating student research.
- Oversee specialized scholarship programs such as: Silcox, Dream.US, and Newman Civic Fellows.
- Oversee IGNITE/Student Research Day.
- Plan and implement RAM Summer Undergraduate Research Institute (SURI).
This title is in Appendix A of the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees and, as a consequence, incumbents serving in this title are not eligible for permanent appointment (tenure), but instead receive renewable term appointments.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Terminal Degree awarded by Summer 2023.
- 5 years' experience serving as an academic advisor or counselor in Higher Education.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience in mentoring undergraduate research.
- Knowledge of skills for academic success such as study habits, time management, and managing test anxiety.
- Ability to work across academic and administrative departments with individuals that serve students.
- Experience working with populations who identify as low-income, first generation to go to college, and/or part of an historically underrepresented group.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual (Spanish preferred).
- Familiarity with any student and course information software and degree audit tool (such as Banner, Degree Works and CRM Advise).
- Experience in writing annual reports.
- Experience with strategic planning, assessment and evaluation.
- Experience teaching/facilitating in a higher education setting.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time UUP position.
- For the first 10 working days, beginning Friday, May 12, 2023 and ending Thursday, May 25, 2023, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.

- Salary: $90,000 + $3,026 in downstate location pay = $93,026 Total Annual Compensation. Salary may increase commensurate with experience.
