Diversity Equity Inclusion Business Unit Program Manager
The Diversity Equity Inclusion Business Unit Program Manager will support the Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer to develop and implement the corporate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategy for the bank.
The incumbent will deliver core DEI educational programs, amplify the impact of equity initiatives, and spearhead the continuous integration of the DEI in our culture, programs, and processes.
The role will have the following responsibilities:
  • Provide DEI Consulting to line of business leaders to develop and integrate strategies, develop solutions, and provide analysis to accelerate DEI business performance.
  • Design and facilitate corporate-wide and LOB specific DEI Education solutions for leaders, managers, and colleagues.
Lead Workforce Inclusion & Equity Program development and manage critical external relationships that advocate for reducing inequities for Women and BIPOC talent to build, integrate and develop.
Position Responsibilities
DEI Consulting:
Provide collaborative leadership, facilitation, and implementation of key initiatives to advance the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategy through development and implementation of DEI strategies in the lines of business including equity workforce strategies, employee engagement and experience, performance management and education.
  • Establish relationships and influence senior leaders across the business; partner and consult on business unit/functional DEI strategies, initiatives, and action plans.
  • Work with members of Comerica's historically underrepresented groups, addressing their concerns, and meeting their specific needs.
  • Work with HR Consultants and HR Leaders to build and support inclusion initiatives that align with our DEI roadmap.
Operationalize DEI strategy through processes, systems, and tools to achieve scale by leading key stakeholders through the change management.
  • Research, benchmark, develop, and deliver enterprise Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategies that are aligned with business priorities.
Partnering with our DEI Compliance Manager and DEI Colleague Programs Manager to remove adverse impact and to create robust colleague experiences throughout the line of business.
  • Lead integration of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion councils (if applicable) across the line of business, connecting into a broader DEI Ecosystem including the Employee Resource Groups and Business Resource Groups.
Perform regular analysis, monitor, and identify trends and gaps and develop reports of internal DEI metrics, provide data informed recommendations for sustainable improvement and exploit benchmark data as appropriate
  • Provide regular updates to senior stakeholder.
  • Define and track key success metrics for programming and initiatives consistent with Comerica's Diversity Scorecard.
DEI Education:
Lead, plan, implement and facilitate Inclusion & Diversity education, workshops, experiences, and discussions to improve cultural awareness, increase inclusivity and understanding of equity, inclusion, and diversity topics.
  • Facilitate internal training sessions on topics such as bias, allyship, inclusion, and empathy.
  • Maintain a continuous learning mindset to stay current on research and development within the DEI space.
  • Leverage technology to ensure ideal live and virtual learning experiences for all learners.
  • Drive critical content learning initiatives that make-up the diversity and inclusion discipline. Those include but are not limited to unconscious bias; dimensions of diversity, gender, generational diversity, race, and intersectionality; all forms of harassment and employee engagement.
Provide coaching and consultations to leaders, managers, and departments; partner with HR Consultants to review and assess engagement reports and build sustainable education programs to mitigate engagement challenges in the company.
Establish/maintain positive relationships with colleagues and external partners, managers and leaders across the organization and serve as external.
Workforce Inclusion & Equity Programs:
Partner with the Talent Acquisition team to support a robust sourcing and recruitment strategy that attracts diverse talent and enhances the line of business talent pools.
Integrate equity strategies in support of improvement of Comerica's Affirmative Action Program.
Identify and manage sponsorship opportunities with external community-focused organizations in alignment with equity strategies for the line of business.
  • Partner with Comerica internal colleagues on the development of external partnerships with schools, universities, and community organizations aligned with DEI-equity focused relationships and strategies to accelerate workforce representation.
  • Identify, develop, and foster relationships with external stakeholders (i.e., industry thought leaders, consultants, vendors, and non-profit organizations).
  • Liaise with external organizations to develop and deepen relationships in support of our DEI workforce representation goals for the line of business.
  • Lead planning and implementation of workforce inclusion programs and processes for the purpose of building, integrating, developing, and retaining a diverse and inclusive workforce.
Developing accurate reporting to measure engagement and effectiveness of programs.


Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university
  • 8 years HR business partner, consultant, talent management, diversity or organizational development
  • 6 years implementing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategies preferred
Comerica Bank Tower
8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday. This position offers a hybrid work model that includes onsite and remote days as determined by the manager.
