Special Procedure Tech


The Special Procedure Tech is responsible for the performance of Electroencephalograms (EEG), 24 Hr. EEG Monitoring Procedures. Departmental Responsibilities are technical and clinical in nature. The Special Procedure Tech will complete full Patient Documentation related to Diagnosis, History and Chart review and pursue all Departmental Quality Standards and Guidelines. The Special Procedure Tech will assume additional responsibilities when requested by Manager.


  • Responsible for overseeing job operation on shift, reporting to Department Director.
  • Performance of EEG Procedures, EEG, 24 Hour continuous Monitoring, Evoked Response Procedures
  • Communication abilities English Speaking, Reading, Writing, in accordance with Departmental Standards, Good Telephone Communication Skills.
  • Perform light clerical duties not limited to typing, filing, mailing, charting, chart review, computer Orders, procedure scheduling etc.
  • Equipment maintenance, cleaning, technical operations etc.
    Responsible for overseeing the welfare of all patients, demonstrate excellent patient care skills, specifically to diagnostic procedure.
  • Good rapport with Medical Staff and other staff members.
  • Daily processing of all dictated reports.
  • Contact Physician on Panel for all completed procedures.
  • Responsible for participating in on/call coverage, stand-by after hours, weekends, holidays on a rotation basis.
  • Daily scheduling of inpatients with Nursing Units.
  • Careful monitoring of Physician orders.
  • Contact Physician Offices on outpatient procedure results.
  • On the completion of all inpatient procedures, technologist must verify procedure completion in patient chart and sign.
  • Check Patient Identification prior to procedure.
  • Process all procedures to the appropriate Neurologist for Interpretation.
    Assume additional responsibilities and tasks, within scope, when requested by Manager.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

Requirements


  • Minimum 2 years or equivalent education/background in Electroencephalography (EEG) in healthcare setting. Proficient typing /computer skills.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Current AHA BLS required
  • LA City Fire Care required within 90 days of hire.

Pay Range
$40.87 - $50.34 /hour
