Compensation: $82,000 - $90,000 annually based upon qualifications

General Summary:
This role supports the administration and support of environmental, health and safety programs. Working in conjunction with the EHS General Manager who is responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of environmental health and safety programs within the NA-LW facility, this role helps assure compliance with regulatory agencies, NA-LW standards and policies.
An incumbent in this position is expected to develop knowledge of relevant regulatory and company programs in congruence with the EHS General Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitie s include the following:
  • Review compliance with applicable EHS regulations.
  • Develop and implement EHS operating plan and budget focusing on cost-effective compliance strategies.
  • Enhance programs across NA-LW by applying best practices and understanding the applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support to standardize procedures, policies and reporting within group companies as part of “One Nitto” concept.
  • Lead investigations of incidents and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in legal proceedings.
  • Interfaces with regulatory agencies and consultants as required. Provides EHS support to the Legal department when developing contracts with relevant insurance companies.
  • Develop and maintain audit programs to confirm compliance to all government and corporate EHS rules and regulations. Serve as representative of EHS in all NA-LW QES audits.
  • Support Safety meetings and activities at member companies.
  • Prepares reports as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This job has several people that report directly, in assistance to overseeing EHS Operations at NA-LW.
Key Decisions/Dimension:
  • Interpreting company, regulatory body requirements and 3rd party guidance in preparation of EHS procedures and policies and training advisement for locations to follow.
  • Provides EHS support services directly to NA-LW.
Major Challenges:
  • Promoting teamwork, consensus and compliance within EHS leadership and NA-LW to form common standards for procedures and compliance with EHS training activities.
  • Providing advice on equipment purchases so they meet compliance with all Nitto, regulatory and EHS requirements.
  • Upholding equipment standards for NA-LW, to assure all Nitto, regulatory and EHS requirements are met and include items unique to the Americas
Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree; Environmental or technical discipline a plus; 2+ years’ experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment or a combination of related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree in technical field a plus but not required.
  • Training or experience in Environmental ISO14000 and OSHAS 18001/ISO 45001.
  • Direct experience dealing with regulatory agencies and/or compliance officers a plus.
  • Knowledge of Environment Management system a plus.
  • Experience in safety training, safety program design and implementation, JHA, Risk Assessments, and Incident reporting desired.
  • Supervisory experience a plus.
Computer Skills:
  • Microsoft office 365
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Professional certification for, Engineer in Training (EIT), Professional Engineering (PE) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) a plus.
