Engineer I – Ground Systems

The Engineering Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the organizational talent and technical leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers’ missions. Ground Systems Engineer in support of requirements, design, analysis, test and operation of space vehicles and ground systems for commercial, DoD and NASA customers.

What You’ll Do:

• 
  Support requirements, design, analysis, test and operation of space vehicles and ground systems for commercial, DoD and NASA customers.
• Engineering responsibilities include:
  • Support design of ground system components.
  • Understanding of ground system requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with a team comprised of systems engineers, I&T and Transition team members, as appropriate.
  • Support preparation of program documentation.
  • Support operational validation of releases, database maintenance, and investigation of system anomalies.
• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

What You’ll Need:

• 
  BS or higher in Engineering or related technical field is required plus 2 or more years related experience.
• Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
• Interest in ground systems for spacecraft operations.
• Understanding of System engineering / SEIT skills.
• Exposure to system test or verification tools.
• Exposure to specification development.
• Exposure to requirements management tools like DOORS or JAMA.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access. Compensation & Benefits:

  HIRING SALARY RANGE: $88,500 - $109,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
