What You'll Be Doing
Planning, coordinating, and leading work assignments for a crew of 3-6 employees while completing work orders.

Maintaining equipment inventory to include maintenance, service records and purchase recommendations.

Planning, scheduling, and completing special project work to support divisional programs and work order management.
Coordinating work with designers, contractors, and other stake holders.

Reviewing plans and specifications to ensure projects meet county standards, local ordinances, and applicable codes.

Inspect work sites for quality control, quality assurance, completion and compliance with project specifications and department standards.

Perform facility inspections to ensure program services are delivered per County and contract standards.

Perform duties as the contract administrator for service contracts covering maintenance services for storm water structures, underground storage tanks, and minor exterior construction.

Preparing County Property for adverse weather, civil protests, and unplanned events. Applies brine, salt and deicing compounds. -Installs and recovers barricades, cones and other safety equipment.

Cleans up and restores county properties after damage due to natural events, civil protests, or other unplanned events.

Supervising and training employees in the operation of heavy equipment and commercial trailering operations.

NOTE: Due to the CDL nature of this position, this position must submit to random drug testing. A criminal background and motor vehicle record check will be conducted.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
High school diploma or GED
Three years of experience in construction or heavy equipment operation
Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record
Equivalent education and experience are accepted
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
Storm Water BMP Inspection and Maintenance Certification
Commercial Driver's License
NC Pesticide License
UST Operator Training
How Will We Know You're 'The One'?
Ability to lead a work crew of 3-6 employees to carryout assigned duties.Knowledge of the inspection, maintenance, and repair of storm water devices and flood control structures
Knowledge of the inspection, maintenance and repair of exterior facilities such as hard surfaces, furnishings, fixtures, and finishes
Ability to operate light, medium duty and heavy equipment proficiently and independently.
Knowledge of general construction and the ability to read plans and obtain grade elevations.
Ability to use computers and software applications to record time and material expenses.
Ability to work in an outdoor environment in extreme heat and cold conditions for extended periods of time.
Knowledge of work place safety practices and PPE to conform with OSHA requirements.
