Position Summary:

To provide efficient service in the operation, servicing, and maintenance of motor vehicles and equipment; to be familiar with all traffic laws and vehicle safety rules and regulations; to be trained in first aid and provide it when necessary; to see that an adequate supply of materials, tools, safety equipment, and efficient service is available to the field personnel. Must be able to work closely with crewmembers and follow instructions. Must be available and able to work in inclement weather.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists line crew as a groundman when not operating the equipment.
  • Checks daily, truck and equipment carried. Makes minor repairs and adjustments when necessary. Assures proper maintenance and lubrication of all equipment operated.
  • Operates line construction truck equipped with live boom, winches, pole tamps, pole jacks and associated equipment, in compliance with load limitations and safety regulations.
  • Operates a live boom derrick in the erection of wood poles, steel towers, fixtures and equipment. Operates winches in pulling sagging conductors.
  • Installs, moves and handles heavy equipment for line construction, such as: tensioners, bull wheels, backhoes and other types of pole digging equipment, crawler type equipment and self ‑powered pole setting equipment, trenching equipment, and cable laying equipment.
  • Maintains record of materials used from truck inventory and charges to various job orders.
  • Keeps informed of up‑to‑date methods of first aid procedures and maintains inventory of first aid equipment on truck.
  • Performs other duties of a like or lesser grade as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Operates trucks pulling semi‑trailers, and heavy duty pole delivery units, gas or diesel powered.

Education/training/experience/License Required:

This position requires a High School Diploma, along with on-the-job training, as well as a valid Colorado Class A CDL License. Must have a current First Aid and CPR card. Must be able to operate a backhoe and a mini-excavator. Working knowledge of the following equipment is recommended: digger/derrick truck, trenching equipment, conductor stringing equipment, cable pulling equipment.

Compensation

Hourly pay rate- $34.92
