As Fabrication Technician , you will be responsible for set-up and operation of fabrication equipment for forming, bending, and punching on a variety of sheet metal, plates, and other parts and materials.

Reporting directly to the Supervisor of Production, this position is based in Shreveport, LA

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITY:

• Work from work orders, blueprints, written and verbal instructions.
• Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
• Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
  

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Positions workpiece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade.
• Pushes button or depresses pedal to activate machine.
• Make first piece inspection and make any required set-up adjustments.
• Observes machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction.
• Measures workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
• Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpiece.
• Exercise proper care in the use of tools, equipment, and materials; avoid excessive scrap.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of fabrication processes, equipment, and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications.
• Knowledge of welding and soldering techniques.
• Ability to use hand and power tools.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Skills & Abilities:

• Requires standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs alone and over 50 lbs with assistance.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
• Must be able to use hands to reach and handle or feel
• Must be able work in noisy environment and wear all required personal protective equipment.
